Steampunk Signs
A signage manufacturer whose work sells itself in person, and needed a site that did the same job online.
The situation
Steampunk Signs makes physical signage, the kind of work that convinces people the moment they see it and is almost impossible to convey in a paragraph. Mike came to us after a long stretch of not getting anywhere with a website, which is a more common story than anyone in this industry likes to admit.
The brief was not complicated, but it was specific: the site had to represent the company properly, and it had to give visitors the same impression they get standing in front of a finished installation.
What we did
We started by listening rather than proposing. What the business actually does, who it needs to reach, and what a visitor should feel when they land. Those answers shaped the structure before a single page was designed.
The result leads with the work. Galleries of finished installations do the persuading, the range is explained in plain terms rather than industry jargon, and enquiries reach a person rather than disappearing into a form.
It is hand-coded on Astro and hosted on Cloudflare Pages: no page-builder layer between the content and the browser, which means it loads fast on a phone and has very little that can break.
Where it landed
The site is live at steampunksigns.co.za. Mike wrote the testimonial below unprompted, and it is reproduced in full on our testimonials page without edits.
He did not simply hear what I was saying; he made the effort to understand what I wanted the website to represent, how I wanted our company to be portrayed and, most importantly, what I wanted our customers to experience when visiting it.
